Another hugely successful project by one of the region's most prolific F&B operators, VKD Hospitality. These guys, who first brought the extremely successful Miss Lily's concept to Dubai, have now introduced the first listening bar concept to the region.

A tuned acoustic tunnel leads guests from the record shop at the entrance to the highly intimate and precise acoustic environment of the interior space, hosting a custom-built high fidelity loudspeaker system.

Outdoors, another bar and another sound, all in line with the venue's quest for delivering high definition audio.

 

CHALLENGES

  • Creating a high-fidelity listening environment within a social bar setting where background noise, reflections, and crowd energy typically degrade sound quality
  • Establishing a clear acoustic separation between the vinyl retail area and the bar to preserve the intimacy and surprise of the speakeasy experience
  • Balancing critical listening conditions with atmosphere, ensuring the space felt immersive and intimate rather than acoustically over-treated or sterile
  • Extending the sonic identity outdoors while maintaining cohesion between the interior listening space and the garden terrace

 

STRATEGIES

  • Acoustic tunnel separation between the vinyl store and the bar, functioning as both a physical and acoustic transition to reinforce isolation and the speakeasy reveal
  • Full ceiling absorption using 100 mm pyramidal foam absorbers to control reverberation and reflections, creating a focused and controlled listening environment suitable for high-fidelity playback
  • Custom-designed Ojas sound system developed specifically for the space, prioritizing tonal accuracy, dynamics, and listening depth over sheer output
  • Architettura Sonora loudspeakers integrated into the garden terrace to extend the experience outdoors while remaining visually discreet and aligned with the architectural language
